REBIT-POD: Postdoctoral programme; Molecular Biology, Bioinfo 820 views

EMBL-Rome, EMBL-EBI and the Italian Institute of Technology are jointly offering a postdoctoral programme that builds on the collaborative relationship of the institutes and furthers the understanding of molecular biology and disease and bioinformatics.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Successful REBIT-POD postdocs will be awarded a 3-year fellowship to work on a joint project between a group at IIT and a group either at EMBL-Rome or EMBL-EBI.
  • Projects may be selected from pre-defined areas or proposed by the applicant.
  • The postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded in 2019, to start as soon as possible.
  • Fellowships typically begin before the end of the year, but the start date may be delayed with the agreement of the group leaders.
  • All REBIT-POD fellowships must be undertaken within 12 months of the fellowship being awarded.
  • The initial contract is for a period of 3 years with the possibility of a fixed-term extension.
The Pre-defined projects:

Project 1: Cross-sensory modulation in the mouse visual thalamus (Rompani & Fellin)

Project 2: Perinatal microglia-neuron crosstalk in circuit development (Gross & Papaleo)

Project 3:  Functional connectivity inference for feedforward and feedback signal integration in the mouse superior colliculus (Asari & Panzeri)

Project 4: Determining the genetic mechanisms of cognitive responses to antipsychotic drugs (Zerbino & Papaleo)

Project 5: CD44-hyaluronic acid binding and signaling dynamics; understanding a key mechanism in homeostasis, cancer and targeted drug delivery (Petsalaki, Tirelli, Grimaldi & Vicidomini)

Project 6: A computational framework to assess the transcriptional effects of lncRNA perturbations on breast cancer cells (Brazma, Papatheodorou & Nicassio)

Project 7: Integrating single-cell transcriptional and epigenetic data to analyse plasticity in cancer (Marioni & Nicassio)

Project 8: Detection and quantification of RNA modifications from nanopore direct RNA sequencing data (Birney, Nicassio & Leonardi)

Project 9: Leveraging human genetics to understand brain connectivity (Zerbino, Gozzi & Gross)

Application:

Apply via online system and applications must consist of the following:

  • A cover letter specifying the project you are applying for;
  • Your curriculum vitae;
  • Two recent letters of reference.
