The Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry at University of Sheffield is inviting applications for a Research Associate in organic chemistry under the guidance of Dr. Ben Partridge.
About the position:
- The role is part of an EPSRC funded project aimed at developing new catalytic methods for the transformation of alkylboronic esters into high value amine products.
- The role will also involve collaborating with the industrial partner, Redbrick Molecular Ltd. Based in Sheffield, Redbrick Molecular are a supplier of desirable chemical building blocks for industrial R&D. The project has the potential to include a short placement within Redbrick to facilitate technology transfer.
- This will give the candidate an opportunity to gain both industrial experience and insight into the commercialisation process.
Requirements:
- Candidate must have a PhD degree (or be close to completion) in Chemistry or a closely related discipline (or have equivalent experience).
- Expertise in multistep organic synthetic organic chemistry is essential. You will also have the ability to invent, analyse and optimise chemical reactions.
- Experience in asymmetric synthesis, catalysis and/or organometallic chemistry are highly desirable.
