The University of Luxembourg invites in its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education applications for a Research Associate (post doc) on project in Educational Sciences.

Duration: 1 year; possible extension to a maximum of 5 years; Fixed-term contract

About the positions:

  • Selected candidate will be based in the Institute for Applied Education Sciences with in the Research Unit for Education, Culture, Cognition and Society.
  • Selected fellow will be working in the field of educational sciences and history of education and will contribute the research program.
  • The research program is headed by Dr. Christina Siry.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake transnational, national, and local historical analyses of the primary school mathematics and science curricula, utilizing archival resources from Luxembourg and abroad, as needed.
  • Preparation of single-authored and co-authored publications in English,
  • Disseminate findings, including at international conferences and research exchanges,
  • Communicate and collaborate with research team, including partner teachers, educational policy makers, and researchers,
  • Engage in miscellaneous administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a PhD (or near completion) in Education, or a related field, with a strong foundation in history of education and historical research methods.
  • Applicants with knowledge of the Luxembourgish education system and the formal settings of science education in primary schools would be added advantage.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a publication record that includes single and co-authored peer-reviewed publications;
  • Applicant must possess fluency in English and proficiency in French or German is required, proficiency in Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
