Research Fellow: Chemistry, Materials, Pharmaceutical sciences
Research Fellow in Biomedical Polymer Technology School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, at the University of Brighton, UK
Overview
We have an excellent record of innovative research, and would like you to join us and become part of our future.
You will be joining a research group which has a long history of developing novel polymers for drug delivery and medical device applications. The project builds on a longstanding industrial collaboration in the field of contact lens research, which is now focusing on the advancement of fundamental knowledge in the field of controlled delivery from hydrogel-based materials
Position Requirements
As the successful candidate you will contribute to the identification, development and evaluation of novel approaches to control the release of agents from polymeric hydrogel materials for use in contact lens applications. To succeed in the role, you will need:
- Degree in chemistry, materials or pharmaceutical sciences and a relevant post-graduate qualification/PhD or equivalent professional experience
- Knowledge and competence in the synthesis of polymer hydrogels and the evaluation of controlled release of active agents from such materials using modern analytical techniques
- Ability to creatively translate knowledge to support innovation across disciplinary boundaries
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing using appropriate IT skills
Duration: The post is fixed-term for 24 months as funding is limited with the possibility for extension depending on the progress and available funding. For any informal discussion please contact Professor Andrew Lloyd by e-mailing a.w.lloyd@brighton.ac.uk
