The Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Chemistry, Bioscience and Environmental Technology at University of Stavanger invites applications for a research fellow in Environmental biotechnology.
About the position:
- This is a trainee position that will give promising researchers an opportunity for academic development leading to a doctoral degree.
- Duration: 03 years with research duties exclusively, or four years with both research and 25% compulsory duties.
- The position is vacant from 01.08.2018.
- The position is primarily aimed at research within wastewater technologies studying the spread of antibiotic resistance genes within wastewater treatment systems.
- The main goal of the project is to use green fluorescence protein (GFP) labeled bacterial cells as biomarkers to examine the spread of antibiotic resistance in a sequence batch reactor (SBR).
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a strong academic background with a five-year master degree within a relevant field that could provide a basis for successfully completing a doctorate.
- Applicant is expected to be dedicated and motivated researcher that has clear and specific goals for research production
- Applicant must be able to work independently within a group and contribute to all tasks of the research process (including identification of research ideas, hypothesis formulations, experimental planning, methodological techniques and result interpretation and dissemination).
- Applicant must possess a good command of both oral and written English.
