Research Fellow at the at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

A Research Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Wenting ZHAO at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join our innovation team on nanotechnology empowered design of cell-instructive biomedical devices.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Lead research project under the direction of Principal Investigator (PI), and present significant progress towards the deliverables in areas such as:

  1. nanotechnology and membrane biology or 3D printing
  2. nanomaterial synthesis and characterization (microscopy, TEM, SEM, FTIR)
  3. ammalian cell culture, confocal imaging, and image analysis
  4. nanoclusters and membrane receptors
  5. cell-instructive materials and cell manipulation

Other Duties

  1. Writing scientific publications and grants.
  2. Review and curation of literature
  3. Collaborate with other team members, and supervise junior members.
  4. Assist in general operation of laboratory including ordering supplies and maintenance
  5. Train new laboratory personnel, students, and short term visiting scientists
  6. Comply with all laboratory safety standards and guidelines

Qualifications Requirements:

  1. Ph.D. in Bioengineering / Chemistry / Material Science / Biology and related fields; specialization in nanotechnology and membrane biology or 3D printing is highly preferred.
  2. Working experience in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization (microscopy, TEM, SEM, FTIR).
  3. Working experience in mammalian cell culture, confocal imaging, and image analysis.
  4. Working knowledge in nanoclusters and membrane receptors is preferred.
  5. Working knowledge in cell-instructive materials and cell manipulation is preferred.
  6. Highly motivated and dedicated to the development of the project.
  7. Evidence of research independence and track record of first author publications.
  8. Excellent laboratory, planning, and leadership skills.
  9. Ability to integrate well into a team of researchers with different backgrounds, and the ability to learn new techniques.
  10. 2-3 years of working experience in nano-biotechnology, membrane biology and micro/nanofabrication as a graduate student or post-doctoral scholar
  11. Fresh Ph.D graduate may apply
