Research Fellow in Psychology: University of Leeds 1055 views

Applications are invites for Research Fellow in Psychology, Faculty of Medicine and Health at University of Leeds. The Research Fellow/Officer will develop and test a new behaviour change intervention. The project will be in association with the North East Hub of the NHS National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

Duration: 1 September 2017 to 20 February 2018; Fixed Term

Salary: £32,548 to £38,833 per annum

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Developing and applying the necessary skills for the development and execution of the project and act as the Project Manager;
  • Taking responsibility, under the guidance of the principal investigators, for ensuring good day-to-day progress of the project;
  • Developing and maintaining excellent partnerships with the North East Hub of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme to ensure good progress on the project;
  • Contributing to day-to-day decisions on matters that affect the research progress and that of the team;
  • Taking responsibility for acquiring, analysing and interpreting data and presenting findings orally and in original publications;
  • Presenting information on research progress and outcomes to research sponsors and the research group;
  • Under supervision of the PIs provide written internal and sponsor reports detailing the results of the research and communicate or present research results through publication or other recognised forms of output (as appropriate);
  • Attending relevant national meetings and courses as required;
  • Attending departmental and School of Psychology research seminars and meetings and undertaking training courses where required;
  • Understanding broader issues relating to the management of research, including Health and Safety implementation;
  • Assisting with the management of project finances according to the financial regulations of the University.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must have or about to submit PhD in a subject relevant to the psychology of bowel cancer screening uptake
  • Applicant must demonstrate strong background of post-graduate level research in the area of bowel cancer screening uptake
  • Applicant must have some knowledge of the North East Hub of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme; proficiency in conducting meta-analysis including the use of Comprehensive Meta-analysis programme
  • Applicant must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including relevant experience of multivariate statistical analysis using SPSS and/or SAS
  • Applicant must have some experience in planning and conducting independent research projects; evidence of a developing publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations; advanced IT skills including relevant working experience of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Applicant must be able to work both independently and as part of a team including an enthusiastic, pro-active and co-operative approach and maintaining collaborations with other researchers working in related areas;
