IRB Barcelona invites applications for a Research Officer-Bioinformatician specialized in proteomics for the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Core Facility.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Development and implementation of data analysis workflows and dedicated softwares for specialized proteomics and mass spectrometry applications.
• Statistical and high-throughput proteomic data analysis both by bottom-up and top-down proteomics. Improvement of existing workflows for quantitative data analysis. Use and tune de novo sequencing engines. Functional analysis of proteomic data, functional classification and pathway analysis.
• Development and implementation of software for structural proteomics: crosslinking applications, ion mobility collisional cross section calculations, molecular modeling, HDX, affinity applications.
• Collaborate with the storage of big data, and with the maintenance of software for facility management
• Work very closely with the Senior Research Officer at the facility as well as with the Biostatistics Unit.
• Train the members of the MS and Proteomics Facility in the use of dedicated software and data analysis workflows.

Requirements:

• Applicant must have experience in the analyses of proteomics and mass spectrometry data and in the use of specialized proteomics software (MaxQuant, Sequest, Skyline, Progenesis, Crosslinking software, MassLynx, HDX search engines)
• Applicant must hold Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Chemistry/Physics or a related discipline.
• Applicant must demonstrate solid knowledge of statistics and R programming language
• Applicant must have strong programming/scripting skills
