The Jenuwein group studies molecular mechanisms that establish and maintain heterochromatin in mammalian cells. This position is available immediately and initially funded for two years.
Role and responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include the bioinformatics analysis of genome-wide datasets, such as ChIP-seq and RNA-seq, as well as transcription factor motif analysis and analysis of other next-generation sequencing-based experiments.
- A strong understanding of epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation will also be necessary, in order to process, analyze, and interpret a variety of datasets, focusing particularly on repetitive DNA elements and chromatin modifying factors.
Qualifications:
- Applicant is expected to be dedicated and motivated team player with strong communication skills and good command of the English language
- Applicant must hold an academic degree in life science with PhD in bioinformatics or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Applicant will have a proven record in the analysis of genome-wide datasets and computational skills (Python/Perl, R/Bioconductor) in a Linux environment.
- Applicant must have knowledge of alignment programs (such as STAR), RepeatMasker, and data analysis and visualization tools in R.
