Scientist (Immunometabolism): MPI of Immunobiology and Epigenetics 1169 views

The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics are inviting applications for a position as Scientist. The position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. Erika Pearce (Department of Immunometabolism with a special focus on the role of metabolism in regulating immune cell development and function).

Duration: initially for 2 years with the possibility of extension.

Role and responsibilities:
  • The selected candidate would be highly motivated and experienced scientist (Physician Scientist) for a translational research project on the metabolic interactions between cancer cells and immune cells in humans.
  • A special focus will lie in the investigation of metabolic changes during immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment in cancer patients.
  • Approaches used would include molecular and cellular techniques, FACS analysis, in vitro cell differentiation assays, mass spec analysis, single cell RNA sequencing and bioinformatics.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold doctoral degree with a proven clinical training in Hematology and Oncology as well as profound research experience in cancer research with strong skills in immunology including flow cytometry analysis and molecular biology.
  • Applicant must be able to establish translational models for studies of human disease based on profound understanding of cancer immunology.
  • Applicant with prior experience working in translational mouse models would have an advantage.
  • Applicant must have published at least one first author and several co-author publications.
  • Applicant with bilingual communication skills (German/English) would be advantageous. Ability to work in a team, communication skills and experience in the supervision of graduate students are an asset.
