KU Leuven is inviting applications for a post of Scientist in Bioinformatics in the Lab of Protein Phosphorylation and Proteomics integrates all possible aspects of research on reversible protein phosphorylation, including state-of-the-art mass spectrometry expertise to perform all kinds of ‘-omics’ screenings.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work in a multidisciplinary team analyzing omics-related projects, including Mass Spectrometry (MS)-based omics, Transcriptomics (RNA-seq) and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), applied to e.g. different disease models
- Perform bioinformatics work related to MS-based (phospho)proteomics; RNA-seq and ChIP-seq; lipidomics.
- Perform gene set enrichment and pathway analysis; integrated analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and lipidomic data; statistical data analysis
- Design and enhance new omics bioinformatics pipelines to meet the lab’s and external collaborators’ requirements
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold Master’s or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, with a background in Biology, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- Applicant must possess experience in statistics and experience in bioinformatics programming (Linux, Python, R)
- Applicant must possess fluency in English
- Applicant must be capable of multitasking and managing several projects in parallel and be careful and meticulous
- Applicant must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with wet lab/bench scientists
- Excellent reporting skills (oral and written communication skills)
Duration: initially 1-year-contract, extendable up to 3 years (based on qualifications)
