Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is inviting applications for a three year Tenure Track position as Scientist in Accelerator and FEL Physics.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Selected candidate will contribute to the upcoming commissioning of the soft X-Ray FEL beamline ATHOS and to the improvement of the performance and operation of SwissFEL in general.
• The focus of the research activities will be the exploration of new operation modes of the FEL in seeded configuration to provide coherence and pulse length control of the FEL pulse for the users.

Requirements:

• Applicant must hold PhD degree in Accelerator Physics with experience with Free-Electron Lasers, electron bunch interaction with lasers and / or collective effects in relativistic beam transport.
• Applicant must possess sufficient knowledge on the underlying theory and expertise in the operation of a linear accelerator.
• Social competence is required to constructively work together with co-workers within the SwissFEL project.
