About the Division:
The University of Auckland is the country’s finest research-led University. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the leading departments in the Faculty of Engineering. Undergraduate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering together with a range of postgraduate courses are taught here. The faculty is diverse and active in research at and above postgraduate level. The research activities largely concern mechatronics, dynamics, control, mechanics of materials and composites, thermo-fluids and manufacturing systems.
Senior Lecturer: Rationale of the job
- to take on high quality research, researcher mentoring and teaching in the area of interest.
- to draw research funding, nationally and/or internationally
- to contribute to the activities of the relevant Research Groups and to execute service roles for the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in a relevant engineering with PhD or equivalent research experience in area(s) related to medical devices, robotics or technologies, medical and health science or a closely related field.
- Exceptional track record of published research.
- Some experience of research in a clinical setting, academic research in areas such as clinical studies, disability science and technology, medical devices and technologies and biomedical engineering.
- Exposure of teaching and research, supervision at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels and in areas relevant to this position.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Skills in working with team collaboratively, ability to organise, coordinate and lead others. Ability to interact confidently with external bodies, to create collaborative links and to attract research funding.
