Department of Social Anthropology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management (NTNU) offers a temporary 2-year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in social anthropology.

Responsibilities:

• This postdoctoral position forms part of a research project called Energy Futures: Assessing Intermediary Expertise that Guides Arctic and Global Hydrocarbon Development and is associated with the department’s ongoing specialization in Organizational Anthropology.
• Objective is to develop knowledge in relation to how intermediaries (energy consultants) create learning environments across the energy industry.
• Research objectives of the project include building a conceptual terminology and typology of the kinds of valuations that consultants produce, as well as the visualizing practices developed in the creation of energy futures.
• The project will focus on features of ethnographic research that relate to the creation and performance of expertise, expert knowledge, and elite cultures more generally

Qualifications

• Applicant should have a Norwegian doctorate or an equivalent degree within social anthropology or related fields (STS, cultural geography, visual anthropology).
• Applicant must possess PhD degree before employment start date.
• Understanding with ethnographic research is desirable.
• Capability to work independently.
• Personal skills and motivation to contribute to a good working environment will be given high importance, good cooperation and communication skills, a strong research network, as well as ability to initiate research projects will be regarded positively in the evaluation process.

Salary:

• Postdoctoral Fellow will be paid according to salary scale 24 level 57 in the national salary scheme, gross NOK 40 283,30/month, of which 2 % is deducted for the State Pension Scheme.
