Solar Fuels Catalysis and Lab-Based Near-Ambient Pressure XPS: Postdoctoral researcher at TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology). The approach is to develop a science base for design of catalysts based on synthesis of model systems, advanced in-situ spectroscopic and microscopic characterization, computational modelling of reaction mechanism at different length and time scales and experimental kinetic studies. Topics in the field of natural gas and syngas conversion, valorization of biomass, the use of zeolites and other porous materials in catalysis and catalysis for Solar Fuels are addressed.
About the project:
The solar regulated production of hydrogen and oxygen from H2O & sunlight is one of the most enthralling research areas in recent times, and with respect to future energy storage and supply to our society is a very crucial one. To reach at knowledge based design of photo-electrochemical energy conversion devices calls for a deep understanding of the primary physical and molecular mechanisms.
Candidate with knowledge in chemistry, materials science or physics having a strong interest in heterogeneous (photo) catalysis and photo-electrochemistry will be added value. Understanding in lab or synchrotron based photo-electron-spectroscopy is an important requirement. The project will be dedicated on the implementation and application of lab and synchrotron based near-ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy to both photo-electrochemical and conventional catalytic systems.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- PhDs or about to complete their PhD candidates in Chemistry/Physics/Materials Science. Candidate must be talented and enthusiastic about the work.
- Excellent analytic and communicative skills are required.
- Good command over English language and be a team player.
Application:
- Curriculum Vitae, transcript of grades obtained, motivation letter and two references.
