Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships: The Swiss government along with the Federal Commission for Scholarships (FCS) for offers the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships to Foreign Scholars and Artists for the next Academic Year.
Note: Scholarships open Early September every year (Tentative deadlines in November – Varies from Country to country).
Involved Institutions:
- University scholarships by Swiss universities,
- Federal Institutes of Technology of Applied Sciences
- Arts scholarships: At schools of music and fine arts
Type of Scholarships:
- The scheme comprises of various postgraduate or masters scholarships to foreign scholars and researchers.
- These scholarships are also available for graduates from all disciplines with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research studies in Switzerland.

I am writing this mail for the possible PhD position in your group. As a organic chemistry student what impress me more about research is the systematic development in organic chemistry. I would like to be a part of your university research journey to explore new self-carbohydrate based Research as well as Organic, inorganic as well as Chemical biology research .
Currently I am working on the development of Cancer Vaccine Platform using Tumor associated Carbohydrate Antigen Conjugated Gold Nanoparticles of Different Morphologies. For this work I have synthesized two tumor associated carbohydrate antigens SLx and STn glyopeptide. I could successfully implement Synthetic carbohydrate chemistry, protecting group chemistry, multi-step organic reactions, and chemical biology approach in a transdisciplinary manner for this work. While carrying out this I learned the different techniques such as; UV, solid phase peptide synthesis, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy. I have also successfully synthesized the gold nanoparticles of different morphologies.
Prior to that, After my university study major in organic chemistry, I gained organic synthesis experience by working on Synthesis of Azetidine Imino Sugar from D-Glucose at Pune University under the guidance of Dr. Dhavale (India). Once, I gained organic chemistry experience, I moved to the IISER Pune and joined glycobiology lab of Dr. Raghavendra Kikkeri.
As you know, sugar chemistry is one of the toughest and challenging fields and there is a huge gap between the carbohydrate synthesis and biological applications. I would like to continue in the interdisciplinary area of chemistry and biology. If I get an opportunity to work in your laboratory, I would like to explore this field under your guidance.
