Grade 7: £32,236 – £43,267 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Beecroft Fellowship in Cosmology and Gravitational Physics. Three posts are available.

Duration: The positions are available initially for a fixed-term duration of: Post 1: 24 months; Post 2: 30 months; Post 3: 36 months. Please indicate your preference of post with your application.

Research Area: Position will be to develop an independent research program in one or more of the following topics; cosmology, computational astrophysics, early universe and gravitational physics. The candidates will be expected to work closely with members of the Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics.

Overview

Successful candidate will be required to develop a personal research program in theoretical cosmology (which may include numerical modelling and/or data analysis), interacting with faculty members. The candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to manage their own academic research and administrative activities which may involve small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. The candidate will take part in the academic life of BIPAC and the astrophysics group at the Physics Department, and in particular attending and taking part in seminars, colloquia and journal clubs.

Requirements

1.   Applicants should possess, or close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or related field and strong background in Physics or Astrophysics.

2.   Previous experience in the field of cosmology, computational astrophyics, early universe, gravitational physics will be an advantage.
