University of Bordeaux: Visiting scholars 2230 views

The University of Bordeaux welcomes applications for the Visiting scholars positions. The program is dedicated to enable high-level, internationally-reputed scholars to visit the University or one of the partnering institutions of IdEx Bordeaux and develop an academic joint project in research, education, or at institutional level.

Disciplines:

The program is open to all fields, but particular attention is keen to candidates promoting projects:

  • that strengthen the internationalization of the schools’ curricula;
  • that fall within the scientific priorities of IdEx Bordeaux, or are at the junction between them;
  • that are academically innovative;
  • that strengthen partnership with dedicated partnering universities;
  • that involve novel collaborative projects

Eligibility:

  • applicant must hold excellent record of scientific, academic or institutional achievements;
  • applicant to be employed by a non-French institution;
  • applicant must be holding the title of professor, assistant professor (or equivalent) in their institution of origin;
  • applicant must be supported by an education or research unit from the University of Bordeaux or one of the IdEx partners (assistance in finding an appropriate host unit may be provided);
  • applicant must propose a project with a clear impact in terms of the site’s education, research and international policy;
  • Applicant’s upper age limit at the end of the appointment to be 65 years.

Duration:

  • Short-term: 1-2 months
  • Long-term: 3-10 months
  • Visits must be programmed between February 2017 and December 2017 and run in consecutive weeks.

Funding:

  • scholar’s salary (equivalent to a French professor’s salary
  • travel expenses (round-trip from the fellow’s place of residence)

  • Applications must be backed by a research or education unit from the University or one of its partners, based on their academic needs and planned research activities
