University of Florida invites application for a Postdoc associate in Biomedical Sciences.

About the job:

  • The primary responsibility is the characterization and validation of chemical compounds hits identified from throughput screens ongoing for lysosomal storage diseases (e.g. metachromatic leukodystrophy and Krabbe disease).
  • The fellow will work on developing a robust and innovative cell-based HTS assay. These are small molecule that is FDA-approved and drug-like compounds, which will require the development of counter screening and secondary assays.
  • Basic knowledge on developing induced-progenitor cells as induced-neural cells from primary cells is also expected.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed a PhD and/or MD degree degrees (PhD in the field of biomedical sciences)
  • Applicant must have some experience in basic molecular biology techniques including but not limited to molecular cloning, transfection, infection, RNA isolation, and Northern blotting
  • Applicant should be able to perform tissue culture procedures; Lipids and proteomic techniques including lipid extraction and separation, subcellular fractionation methods, immunoprecipitation, immunoblots, pulse-chase assays, confocal and live cell microscopy, immunofluorescence assays, etc.
  • Selected candidate would have to present and write peer-review articles, progress reports and prepare presentations as oral or poster in scientific meetings.
