University of Basel: PhD scholarship in Physics: Basel is a city university (oldest university in Switzerland) with international flair (bordering France and Germany). The University of Basel invited application from eligible highly motivated student (preferably a physicist) who is keen to explore fundamental aspects of quantum devices for PhD fellowship at a standard PhD salary level, excellent support and supervision and a highly motivated team. This fellowship is on Superconductivity in Twisted Bilayer of Graphen, in the Nano- and Quantum Electronics group at the Department of Physics of the University of Basel.
About position: Selected candidates will first focus on twisted bilayer graphene and study superconducting properties using electron transport measurements at cryogenic temperature down to the milli-Kelvin regime. The amazing transition of twisted bilayer into a superconducting state is believed to be due to so-called “flat bands”, which arise in superlattices, for example, in twisted bilayer.
Positions: PhD scholarship
Educational qualifications: Interested candidates must have a master’s degree in relevant subject area and profound understanding of quantum and solid state physics. They must have experimental work in the field of quantum science and technology.
Closing Date: please see the given link.
How to apply: Interested and eligible may apply their applications through email to Christian.Schoenenberger@unibas.ch a short curriculum vitae including names and contact info of referees and scanned copies of grades, with a short statement on their motivation and education / background in quantum and solid-state physics.
