University of Calgary: Postdoc Fellowship (Electrocatalysts) – PostDoctoral Fellowship, Computational Modeling of High-Temperature Electrocatalysts, Canada First Research Excellence Fund
Job ID: 13964
Computational Modeling of High-Temperature Electrocatalysts
Aim: As part of the implementation of its GRI scientific strategy and to improve hydrocarbon recovery, while reducing emissions and energy intensity, the University of Calgary-Technion collaboration seeking a Postdoc Fellow (PDF) with expertise in theoretical chemistry to work on a project that is focused on the production of climate neutral synthetic fuels. The aim of the research associated is the use of computational tools to investigate new high-temperature electrocatalysts for the selective conversion of CO2 to useful products, using DFT and other modeling tools.
We are therefore seeking applications from qualified candidates who are within 4 years of their Ph.D. degree to fill one Postdoctoral Fellow position, with the following expected qualifications:
Research Field: Modeling/Screening Electrocatalysts Fellowship / Contract
- UCalgary postdoc positions offer a stipend of $55,000 CAD/year
- Travel, computer allowance, and operating budgets.
- The candidate will be offered a one-year contract, with extension for a second year pending satisfactory performance.
Application Procedure:
- Applications should consist of a current CV, a list of 2-3 referees with contact information and a cover letter, indicating which area you are interest.
- The positions are available immediately and the search will continue until the team is assembled.
Requirements:
- The candidate must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent. Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
- Experience in the use of Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods and ideally with some experience in modelling of heterogeneous electrocatalytic reactions. In addition
- Research Experience in the relevant field.
- Candidate will be required to work within a team environment, working effectively with a diverse group of interdisciplinary researchers.
- The successful applicant is also expected to have very good communication skills.
