UoM: 2 Postdoc in Experimental Atomic Physics: The University of Melbourne’s School of Physics is one of Australia’s leading Physics Schools and offers a wide range of physics subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and performs research in the following areas: Astrophysics, Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Experimental Particle Physics, Materials Science, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics,  Physical Biosciences, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics and Theoretical Particle Physics. Faculty of Science, School of Physics the university of Melbourne (UoM) invited applications from highly motivated researcher who can pursue a dynamic research program involving experimental physics for filling up Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Experimental Atomic Physics at The University of Melbourne Parkville campus within the laboratory of Prof Robert Scholten.

About the position: Selected candidates will contribute to combining the established cold ion source with an existing commercial focused ion beam (FIB) column to enable nanometre-resolution imaging and fabrication. Candidates are required ability to attract funding through competitive grant applications, commensurate with experience and opportunities.

Salary: Level A: $72,083 pa – $97,812 pa (PhD Entry Level – $91,125 pa) or Level B: $102,967 pa – $122,268 pa

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have doctoral degree in a relevant area of X-ray physics having excellent record of research productivity and publication relative to opportunity with experience in the area of laser cooling of atoms. Candidates who are Familiar with computational modelling in Mathematica and Matlab with ability to create control interfaces with Python and Labview will be preferred.
