POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP (CHEMISTRY) Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne France 2015

Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne at Dijon (France) is looking for a self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to take in charge an environmental project aimed at developing advanced gas sensor by microwave transduction. The sensitive layer is made from nanomaterials.

The main goal is to explore how the interface chemistry of (nano) materials affects their electromagnetic properties.

The candidate will interact with a larger group exploring nanomaterials, adsorption and surface analysis and microwave measurements with a particular emphasis on knowledge of the dielectric properties variation due to the physical structure and interface chemistry of the sensitive material layer.

The collaborative environment requires a candidate who has the ability to work as part of a team with scientists coming from different disciplines and to learn topics outside his/her area of expertise.

The position will involve a combination of advanced characterization (HR-TEM, XPS, DRX) as well as microwave and electrical analysis to characterize accurately the interface of the layer.

Must be a recent PhD graduate (within the last three years).

The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong background in the following areas:

1-nanomaterial synthesis and manipulation;

2- physico-chemical modifications of surfaces (thin films);

3- nanomaterials and their surfaces.

This position will last 12 months and will start at the beginning of September- October 2015.

Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in materials science & engineering, physics, electrical engineering or related fields.
