Postdoctoral position in Solar Cell Technology and Semiconductors Physics

The position is supported by the Norwegian Research Centre for Solar Cell Technology (FME-SOL) in collaboration with the University of Oslo. The fellowship period is 2 years. Within the framework of the position duties may be assigned. Preferable starting date is August 2015. No one can be appointed for more than one fixed-term period at the same institution.

The Norwegian Research Centre for Solar Cell Technology joins the major research groups and important industry partners in the PV sector in Norway and it is partly funded by the Research Council of Norway. The main objective is to give current and future companies in the Norwegian PV industry long-term access to world leading technological and scientific expertise. The Centre has research infrastructure covering the whole value chain. The infrastructure at the University of Oslo includes the Micro- and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MiNaLab) with a clean room area in excess of 400 m2 as well as a park of modern characterization facilities.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.

The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in Semiconductor Physics.

Good understanding of semiconductor physics is required. Candidates with both experimental and theoretical/modelling experience are welcome. Background in opto-electronic characterization techniques, such as FTIR (in particular), DLTS, PL or similar, is an advantage. The work will focus on characterization of silicon and metal-oxide semiconductors. The successful candidate must have at least one publication in PRL, PRB, APL or JAP as a first author. Due to the fundamental character of studies, candidates with publications in PRL and/or PRB will have an advantage.

The main purpose of postdoctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.
