Programme Manager at Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI) at NUI Galway: Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time 3 year fixed term contract position at the Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI), CURAM, National University of Ireland, Galway.

Job Description: The Programme Manager is a key position, with responsibility for the scientific and operational management of REMEDI activity. Specific areas of responsibility relate to financial, administrative, reporting and personnel management.  The post-holder will have a strong background in people management, research administration, including reporting to funding bodies and will have proven capability in managing and successful delivery of research programmes.  The candidate will also assist in interactions with the GMP facility (CCMI), the Galway HRB Clinical Research facility where stem cell clinical trials are underway and the Galway Blood and Tissue Establishment.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Delivery of REMEDI led research programmes
  • Provide scientific input into research programmes on-going in REMEDI
  • Assist in the supervision, mentoring and technical training of junior researchers
  • Assist in the verification and interpretation of experimental data
  • Assist in the dissemination of research outputs/activities, including identification of the appropriate pathway for dissemination and providing support for preparation of manuscripts and presentations
  • Monitor overall progress of the research programmes towards targeted milestones and deliverables
  • Financial Management of REMEDI’s research projects, including preparation for and management of award audits
  • Ensure research programme requirements in terms of documentation of the project activities and milestones, are implemented and adhered to
  • Management of Human Resource activities, including recruitment and PMDS
  • Preparation and delivery of periodic scientific reports for funding agencies, as required
  • Presentation of experimental data to industry and stakeholders
  • Liaise with the research investigators on the managing of the research projects
  • Represent the research activities of REMEDI as required at local, national and international events
  • Liaise with the TTO representative on the identification of and patent protection of intellectual property generated in the work-programme

 Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent experience in the biological sciences field with at least 3 years research experience, with a track record of demonstrable accomplishments.  Experience in staff management and research administration is essential. The successful candidate will have effective negotiation and strong time management skills as well as being available to travel nationally and internationally if required.  The person should have experience of obtaining grant funding and experience of EU applications would be an advantage.

Excellent organisational, communications and analytical skills are essential. Flexibility and ability to work in a team environment are key skills required. The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills including MS PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Excel.
