2 Postdoctoral Fellowships: Climate Science 1091 views

The Department of Geoscience, Section for Meteorology and Oceanography (“MetOs”) at University of Oslo are inviting applications for two Postdoctoral positions with a preferred starting date no later than 01.03.2020.

About the Project:
  • The main responsibility of both positions is to run, develop and analyze output from global climate models, primarily the Norwegian Earth System Model NorESM2.
  • Fellowship 1: is associated with the EU H2020 project FORCeS (“Constrained aerosol forcing for improved climate projections»), which is led by Stockholm University and has 20 partners from all over Europe.
  • Fellowship 2: is associated with the ERC StG project MC2 (Mixed-phase Clouds and Climate). The success of MC2 relies on close collaboration within this team, and it is therefore particularly important that the candidate complements the existing expertise of the current team members.

Duration: up to three years; fulltime

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in atmospheric/climate science.
  • Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defense of the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English is required
  • A strong publication record in peer reviewed journals
  • Prior experience running, developing and/or analysing output from large-scale climate models
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively, but also interest in collaborative research and team work
