2 Postdoctoral Fellowships in Pharmacoepidemiology: UBC 1293 views

The Pharmacoepidemiology Group of the Therapeutics Initiative at University of British Columbia (UBC) is inviting applications for 2 full-time (1.0 FTE) postdoctoral fellows for an initial appointment of 1 year with the possibility of renewal.

About the position:
  • The postdoctoral fellows will conduct research using large population-based databases to assess the safety and effectiveness of medications in a real-world setting, and support other provincially and nationally funded research projects, including the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES), a collaborating centre of the Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network.
  • The postdoctoral fellows will report to Dr. Colin Dormuth, Associate Professor, Dept of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics.
  • They will also work closely with other faculty members, project managers, and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate(s) must hold a doctorate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health or a related field as long as the candidate has a strong foundation in statistics).
  • Minimum of two years related experience.
  • Experience in pharmacoepidemiology is an asset.
  • Two highly motivated individuals with a desire to develop an independent research agenda, and with the following skills: Demonstrated skills in data management and programming using statistical packages (SAS and SQL and occasionally STATA and R); Demonstrated knowledge of research processes, systematic reviews, and syntheses; Education/training and experience in quantitative research methods, and multivariate statistical analysis; Excellent communication skills, including strong writing, research, and interpersonal skills; High-level conceptual, analytical, and critical appraisal skills; and Demonstrated initiative and willingness to work closely with members of a research team.
