BIGSSS Visiting Research Scholar Program: Research Stays at BIGSSS for International Postdocs and Scholars. BIGSSS invites international researchers / scholars to conduct a research stay at our graduate school.

BIGSSS Visiting Research Benefits:
  1. Visiting scholars profit from BIGSSS’ excellent working conditions at the public University of Bremen and the private Jacobs University and its ties to a number of outstanding social science research institutes at the two universities.
  2. The the stay is unfunded, but office space and access to the universities’ libraries are provided.
  3. The duration of the research stay is flexible; most of our guests stay between two and six months (02-06).

BIGSSS Visiting Research Areas: BIGSSS’ three Thematic Fields are:

  1. Field A: “Global Governance and Regional Integration“
  2. Field B: “Welfare State, Inequality and Quality of Life“
  3. Field C: “Changing Lives in Changing Socio-Cultural Contexts“

Requirements for the Application: Admissions to the BIGSSS Visiting Scholar Program. Interested candidates for a BIGSSS Visiting Fellowship, should submit the following documents:

  1. COVER LETTER, stating your motivation for a research stay at BIGSSS, including your thematic overlap with one or more of BIGSSS’ three Thematic Fields and the preferred length of your stay.
  2. A list of your PUBLICATIONS
  3. Your updated CURRICULUM VITAE

Application Procedure: Please send your application documents via email to our Director of Studies Dr. Mandy Boehnke (director-of-studies@bigsss-bremen.de). Deadline: There are no fixed application deadlines. The start of your Visiting Fellowship is flexible.
