Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) invites applications for 3 Postdoctoral Positions – Model-Based Machine Learning. The project is part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between the MPA and two industrial companies located in Bavaria. The project seeks to develop a self-learning and self-organizing feedback control system which can be applied to different projects in astrophysics and industry.
Starting date: immediately
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD in scientific computing, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence or within the big data domain.
- Applicant must possess expert level experience with Bayesian inference, classification or machine learning
- Applicant must hands-on experience with computational algorithms and optimization methods; strong programming skills in statistical languages/packages, such as Python, R, C++ with a focus on numerical efficiency
- Applicant must have strong software development experience in object-oriented programming; experience in big data computing/parallelization; oral and written communication skills in German
- Good English language skills are required for all team members.
Duration: fixed term of up to 3 years
Remunerations: salary is based on the German federal public service scale.
