The Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics (MPI-MSP), Department NISE, Director Prof. Stuart S.P. Parkin, is searching for a Nano-Device Engineer (m/f/d) to develop and fabricate novel nano-devices for Spintronic and Cognitive technologies. The successful candidate will develop and optimize processes to fabricate nano-devices such as Racetrack memories, and Magnetic Tunnel Junctions for various applications.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Development and fabrication of complex nano-devices with high-yield and reproducibility
- Monitor, control, and qualify the developed processes
- Coordination of an effective device fabrication/ device performance feedback loop
- Operate and contribute to the maintenance of systems in the cleanroom
- Constant self-improvement in order to keep abreast of the latest developments in building nanoscopic devices
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or Engineering or equivalent with 4-5 years of experience in nano-device fabrication and testing
- Proficiency in nano-device fabrication that requires multiple lithography and fabrication steps
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment
- Understanding of nanofabrication engineering principles and process development with an emphasis on thin film (< 10nm) deposition and dry/wet chemical etching
- Experience in CMP is an asset
- Ability to quickly integrate and work in a multi-disciplinary, international team and effectively collaborate and communicate to meet the deadlines and deliver against program goals
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
