Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Scientist 1181 views

The Genome Centre Cologne at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) in Cologne is inviting applications for a Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Scientist (f/m/d) to work in a state-of-the-art genomics/transcriptomics service group.

Responsibilities:
  • The successful applicant is expected to implement new pipelines and protocols in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) using long read technologies (Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and to expand the method repertoire for Illumina sequencing e.g. single cell sequencing (Chromium, 10x Genomics).
  • The applicant is expected to be team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Candidates with thorough wet-lab experience and interest to apply robotic solutions for genomic applications. Bioinformatics skills in e.g. high-throughput data analysis are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Applications are open to creative, flexible and highly motivated candidate with a PhD in the life sciences and initial post-doctoral experience in genomics.
  • Prior experience in working in a sequencing facility or other high-throughput service centre would be advantageous.
  • Fluent written and spoken communication in English is essential, and German would be advantageous.

Duration: initially available until the end of 2020
