Ph.D. fellow position for the In-vivo Nanoscopy at the Department NanoBiophotonics (Prof. Dr. Stefan W. Hell), Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry.

Reference No.: Code Number 24-18

The project aims at innovating nanoscale imaging strategies for the visualization of subsynaptic protein distributions in the brain of the living mouse. This challenge, at the very forefront of present in-vivo superresolution imaging, requires advanced implementations of far-field fluorescence nanoscopy methods such as STED and other novel concepts pioneered in the Department.

Project Overview:

The successful candidate will carry out the research project in close collaboration with biologists and chemists in the Department of Nano-Biophotonics, and with members of the internationally leading Göttingen neuroscience community. The candidate should be highly motivated and prepared to work within a truly multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  1. The candidate should have (or expect to complete soon) a Masters or equivalent degree in Physics, Biophysics,
  2. A strong interest in developing and applying imaging tools for neuroscientific research.

Candidates have the opportunity to participate in one of several Ph.D. programs in Göttingen. Opportunities may also arise from becoming part of one of the newly established MPI Schools with a competitive admission process.

How to Apply
