Background

The EDIPI project

EDIPI is a four-year project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 956396, and it focuses on the drivers, predictability and impacts of several climate extremes in Europe.

Job description

  1. The PhD project aims to quantify how multivariate extremes (extreme events resulting from multivariate components), compound events (concomitant or clustered extremes) and their impacts are changing in a warming climate.
  2. Main focus will be on the exposure and vulnerability of population centres and agricultural areas in Europe to dry/hot and humid/hot extremes, under scenarios at 1.5°C, 2°C and higher global warming. The project will also verify the existence of critical warming thresholds for European impacts.

Requirements / Qualifications

  1. Open for all nationalities
  2. Candidates should not resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the institution where they apply for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.
  3. Candidates must be in the first four years of their research careers and must not yet have been awarded a Ph. D. or equivalent degree.
  4. Degree in climate science, atmospheric sciences, statistics, or related fields is of advantage.
