PhD Position in Physics, Nano science or materials science 1620 views

OVERVIEW:

Join our team to develop structured flexible multilayer thin film technology for novel and versatile non-planar electron detectors.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

  1. We are inviting applications for an open PhD position in the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage (DTU Energy), Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
  2. The research at both institutes targets advanced materials characterization technique development and determination of multi-scale (micro- to atomic) structure relationships to the functional properties of materials.
  3. Coating thin flexible metal substrates with specific crystalline buffer layers enables the controlled thin-film deposition of high quality functional materials that are robust to mechanical deformation.
  4. In the PhD project we will exploit these phenomena to tune the deposition of multilayer structures to develop flexible electron detection layers for the fabrication of electron detection elements.
  5. Up-scaling the fabrication of these detection elements in arrays provides the basis for developing within the project a novel and versatile detector whose shape is adaptable a variety of electron detection scenarios.

ELEGIBILITY CRITRIA:

  • Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree, preferably in physics, materials science or nanoscience

 HOW TO APPLY:

  • To apply, fill out the online application form, and attach all your materials in English in one PDF file.
  • The file must include:
    • A letter motivating the application (cover letter)
    • Curriculum vitae
    • Grade transcripts and BSc/MSc diploma
    • For further information, please contact, Associate Professor Jacob R. Bowen (jrbo@dtu.dk).
