PhD position in Political Science: NTNU 1121 views

The Department of Sociology and Political Science at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has a vacancy for a PhD position in Political Science. This is a full-time fully funded 3-year PhD position. This PhD project is part of the project “UNelected REPresentatives: The Impact on Liberal Democracy in Europe (UNREP)”. It investigates the composite nature of representative claims made by unelected individuals, the extent to which citizens feel represented through such claims, and the impact of this sense of representation on citizens’ perspectives on liberal democracy in Europe.

Qualifications:
  • A master’s degree or second degree (equivalent to 120 ECTS credits) at the time of job commencement with a strong academic background in social science preferably political science or sociology, or equivalent education with a grade of B or better in terms of NTNU’s grading scale.
  • Applicants with no letter grades from previous studies must have an equally good academic foundation.
  • Applicants who are unable to meet these criteria may be admitted only if they can document that they are particularly suitable candidates for education leading to a PhD degree.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to collaborate in interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Working knowledge of Norwegian and/or German will be considered advantageous.
  • Strong training in quantitative research methods will be considered advantageous.
