PhD scholarship in Protease Degradomics at the DTU Bioengineering, Protein Science & Signaling Biology at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering).
Duration: 3-year
The successful applicant will work within the newly established research group ‘Protease Degradomics’ headed by Professor Ulrich auf dem Keller and funded by a Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) Young Investigator Award.
Responsibilities and tasks
- The PhD student will work with a team of postdocs and PhD students and in close collaboration with the DTU Proteomics Core Facility to elucidate interconnected activation networks of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in normal and wounded skin.
- The PhD candidate will establish highly specific and sensitive parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) assays for a panel of MMPs and analyze their interdependent activation in skin cell culture models and genetically modified animals.
- The ideal candidate for this challenging project has skills in targeted proteomics, tissue culture techniques, sample preparation, animal experimentation and proteomics data interpretation.
PhD student is expected to contribute to operation and daily maintenance of Thermo Orbitrap instruments available in the DTU Proteomics Core Facility.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering.
