PhD student in Materials Chemistry 2368 views

The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Faculty of Natural sciences at Stockholm University is offering a PhD student position in Materials Chemistry.

About the Project:
  • Project title: Assembly of 2D materials into 3D porous membranes via controlled electrostatic complexation. Supervisor (PI): Prof. Jiayin Yuan.
  • This project proposes a new concept to conduct electrostatic complexation of 2D materials in a controlled manner to spatially order them into 3D large-sized porous membranes. Electrostatic interaction is a fundamental form of forces existing universally in charged systems in our human body and in our vivid nature.
  • This project will control the electrostatic complexation process by first mixing the charged 2D materials and the oppositely charged species in a homogenous manner before the actual electrostatic complexation occurs between them, thus allows formation of high-quality porous membrane.
  • The highlight of this project lies in the fabrication simplicity, wide applicability to many 2D materials and tailorable porous structures that will synergistically combine the 2D materials and the state-of-the-art membrane technology, offering a new materials platform to realize the broad potential of 2D nanomaterials.
