Postdoc position: Bioethical Issues in Regenerative Medicine 1207 views

The Health Ethics and Policy Lab, Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST) at ETH Zurich has opening for a postdoc researcher in Bioethical Issues in Regenerative Medicine. The current work focuses on the ethical, legal, societal and policy implications of biotechnology, precision medicine, artificial intelligence and digital health.

About the positions:
  • The position is open to an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work with Prof. Effy Vayena and Dr. Alessandro Blasimme on a collaborative project between the lab and the SNF-funded National Center of Competence in Research on Molecular Systems Engineering (NCCR-MSE).
  • The work will revolve around ethical and regulatory issues in the clinical translation of innovative regenerative medicine.
  • The overreaching aim is to develop tools and devices to monitor and manipulate off-equilibrium (bio)chemical systems.
  • The successful candidate will be in charge of, or contribute to study design, data collection, policy analyses and normative analyses.
  • The successful candidate will take the lead or collaborate in the publication of research results.
  • The successful candidate is also expected to help in designing teaching modules, collaborating to the organization of academic events, participating in scientific conferences, and curating content for blogs and social media platforms.
  • The duration of the position is 2 years – with a possibility to extend it by additional 4 years.
  • The preferred starting date is October 1, 2020.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have recently completed a doctorate or a post-doctoral appointment in Bioethics, Social Sciences, Life Sciences or related fields.
  • Candidates must have a strong interest in the ethical, legal and social implications of biomedicine and biotechnology.
  • Some previous research experience in areas such as gene therapy, cell therapy, tissue engineering, genetic engineering and translational medicine.
  • Applicant must have experience with qualitative research methods (appreciated); teaching to students with a scientific background (appreciated).
  • Applicant must have good record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Applicant must possess excellent writing and oral presentation skills in English
