Postdoctoral: Metalloenzymes, Biochemistry, Electrochemistry

The Energy Converting Enzymes Group is inviting application for postdoctoral position at MPI CEC, to uses a vast array of biochemical, functional and spectroscopic techniques to characterize metalloenzymes involved in energy conversion processes including carbon dioxide reduction, hydrogen conversion and methane oxidation.

Overview

The postdoctoral position shall be available from January 15, 2019 for a duration of 12 months with the possibility to extend for a further 12 months. The remuneration is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöDBund).

The project work aims to develop recombinant strategies for the production of high yields of functionally active energy converting enzymes and the functional and spectroscopic characterization of their active site cofactors.

Requirements

Looking for a highly motivated young scientist with the following skills:

  1. A PhD degree in chemistry or biochemistry.
  2. Profound experience in biochemistry, electrochemistry or spectroscopy
  3. Background in metalloenzymes
  4. Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
  5. Very good networking and communication skill

The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr Germany has been reestablished in year 2012 and the field of research has been aligned with the conversion of energy. Scientists at Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion are engaged in basic processes that are essential within the storage and conversion of energy.

Application Procedure

The Max Planck Society explicitly encourages women candidates to apply. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society wishes to increase the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.

Application documents shall include curriculum vitae, cover letter, copies of your degree certificates, reference letter(s) or contact details of a supervisor willing to write a reference letter upon request.
