The School of Water, Energy and Environment at Cranfield University invites applications for Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Materials for Supercritical Power Systems.
About the position:
- The selected candidate will develop and operate a novel testing rig, researching into materials degradation mechanisms in supercritical CO2 rich environments.
- This knowledge is vital to the development of new, highly efficient power generation cycles and will be presented in peer reviewed journals and at conferences.
- Duration is 2 years
- Salary will be as per selection i.e., for Research Assistant £30,000 per annum Or for Research Fellow £32,656 per annum
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have a PhD (obtained or near completion) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Candidate must have experience of analysing degradation in metallic or ceramic materials, be competent with the application and interpretation of analytical techniques, and with safely operating complex laboratory test facilities.
- Candidate’s previous project management will be invaluable as will your ability to work in a team with our technicians and other researchers as well as independently pursuing your research deliverables.
