University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate in Chemistry. The position is available in the Buller group at UW–Madison.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD in a Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field.
- Applicant must have strong background in chemical biology, biocatalysis, biochemistry, protein engineering or synthetic biology. Experience with small molecule synthesis is a plus.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- This group is enzyme engineers with an emphasis on developing and understanding new-to-nature chemical transformations that can be used to expand the chemical space of metabolism.
- Selected scholar will be expected to develop leadership skills in the group by training junior students and participating in the vibrant campus life.
- Considerable latitude will be given for the Postdoctoral Fellow to guide their research, while all projects are expected to involve engineering enzymes and showcasing their synthetic power.
- Example applications include small molecule synthesis featuring biocatalysis, expansion of the genetic code, and directing biosynthesis of bioactive natural products.
- Our group is developing expertise at the intersection of these fields and members will have the chance to acquire a unique breadth of skills in an important and growing field.
