Research Fellow in Applied Psychology, Behavioural , Health  and Social Science

Applications are invited from motivated and enthusiastic individuals with excellent data analysis and communication skills, both verbal and written (as evidenced by authorship of peer-reviewed publications), who is both able to work independently and liaise with colleagues.

  • PhD would ideally be in Psychology, but related disciplines may be considered (e.g. Health Science, Behavioural Sciences, and Social Science). As empirical research will be undertaken in a retirement village the individual must have an interest in working with older people and be sensitive to their needs and abilities.
  • You should be able and willing to travel to and from the University and Whiteley Village and ideally have access to your own mode of transport.
  • Prior experience in working with older people is not necessary but would be a bonus.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (although individuals who have almost completed a doctoral degree may be appointed).
  2. Consideration may also be given to individuals who do not hold a doctoral degree but have required skills based on a number of years experience in specified / relevant fields.
  3. The post holder will have authority over some aspects of project work and must be capable of providing academic judgement, offering original and creative thoughts and be able to interpret and analyse results
  4. Direct responsibility to the principal investigator or academic supervisor.

The post holder may be asked to serve on a relevant Faculty committee. There may be additional reporting and liaison responsibilities to external funding bodies or sponsors. The post holder may work on original research tasks with colleagues in other institutions.
