TIE Environmental Research Fellowship programme: The Tufts Institute of Enivronment (TIE) is offering Environmental Research Fellowship which aims to:

  1. Support financially to Tufts University graduate students in conducting environmental research,
  2. Develop relationships between researchers within the university, including five meetings of fellows throughout 2016-2017 academic year, and
  3. Recognize and provide greater visibility for exceptional graduate students and their environmental work,
  4. Encourage interdisciplinary collaborations that provide better solutions to problems.

The Tufts Institute of Environment (TIE) is aimed to initiates, facilitates, and promotes environmental education, research, and outreach towards a sustainable future. TIE is dedicated to advancing and disseminating knowledge about different ways human activity affects the environment.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the fellowship program, candidate must:

  1. Be currently matriculated in a Tufts University graduate school,
  2. Be continuing their studies throughout the 2016-2017 academic year, and
  3. Be committed to implementing the proposed research.

Research Project Criteria

The research proposals should:

  1. Directly relate to TIE’s mission;
  2. Environmental in nature, in fields such as conservation, public, policy, biology, Health, public and environmental health, or others;
  3. Interdisciplinary in nature;
  4. Relevance towards sustainability of humankind;
  5. Be feasible within the timeline and budget of the proposal;
  6. Have in place all IRB approval and permits (if applicable) by March 1, 2016 (for Ph.D. student applicants) or by time of application (for master’s degree student applicants).

Application Components

Application items (excluding résumés and transcripts) are to be typed in Times New Roman 12pt font. Pages should be numbered and single-spaced, with 1‐inch margins. Please note that all application materials should be organized into a single PDF document (named “LastName_Fellowship2016-2017_Proposal”) before submission.

1) Cover Page (Maximum one page including title, department address etc)

2) Proposal Narrative and Methodology (upto three pages)

3) Proposal Appendices (must be included in grant proposal including CV, list of publication, 2 recommendation letters and budget for the project)

Please note that a detailed budget indicating all expenses for the proposed project, and includingall sources of funding. Also Personal stipends cannot exceed $3000 on any proposal.
