UNSW (The University of New South Wales) Australia, PRSS (The Postgraduate Research Student Support) Scheme helps aspirants with travel costs associated with presenting their research paper, poster or participation in any exhibition at approved international conferences.
UNSW has been getting continuous demand to increase the funds and simplify the process, speed up payments and upgraded equity. PRSS will now be available at a flat rate with the amount decided every year depending on the budget and anticipated demand. This will allow processing to be done and payments on an ongoing basis.
Criteria and Eligibility for New PRSS:
- PRSS will be allotted to applicants only they satisfy the criteria and the conference is approved by the supervisor and PGC.
- Candidates applying for the funds should already have their paper or poster or exhibition accepted by international conference to be held in 2017, as confirmed by the supervisor and PGC, before applying.
- Funds will be processed by the GRS in order of receipt of the completed form.
- Conferences being held in the calendar year will be given priority. Candidates may apply for conferences for near future, once their paper has been accepted.
- If the approved conference cannot be attended, the funds may be used for another conference provided it is approved by the supervisor and PGC. There is no need to return the funds unless an approved conference is not attended by the time of program completion.
- Only PhD and other doctoral candidates will be eligible to apply for PRSS funding.
- Master’s candidates transferring to a doctoral program will also be eligible as soon as the transfer has been granted.
- PRSS funding can only be used for international travel (excluding New Zealand).
