M.S. Position 2016 at Western Kentucky University: The Department of Biology at Western Kentucky University seeks a motivated and qualified student interested in conducting research in the areas of ecoimmunology and genomics.
The position would begin in the fall of 2016. Ecoimmunology is the study of immunological responses within a broadly integrative and organismal context. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research on the transcriptomics of the avian immune response using RNA-seq. The project is a collaborative effort with the University of Louisville Genomics Research Core. In addition, the successful candidate will gain experience as a teaching assistant for a biology undergraduate course during the fall and spring semesters.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- A B.S. degree in biology, or closely related discipline is required.
- competitive GRE scores, prior independent research experience, demonstrated excellence in course work, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Previous experience with analysis of genomic data is preferred, but not required.The successful applicant receives two years of TA stipend, a partial tuition waiver, and contributions towards health insurance benefits.
