10 PhD positions: Chemistry and Physics of Quantum Materials 904 views

The International Max Planck Research School for Chemistry and Physics of Quantum Materials (IMPRS-CPQM) is a joint PhD program and is seeking to recruit up to ten PhD students in 2021 to a range of inter‐institutional research projects in the broadly defined field of quantum materials.

Requirements:
  • Applicant must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent), applications from candidates with excellent Bachelor degrees will also be considered.
  • Excellent candidates from any country are encouraged to apply.

  2. Atomic-scale visualization of strain effects
  3. Charge carrier control in 2D Quantum Materials
  4. Chemical properties of quantum materials
  5. Chemistry with covalent intermetallic compounds
  6. Chiral and non-linear photo-induced electronic transport in Weyl semi-metals
  7. Correlated Electron Physics of Delafossite Oxide Metals
  8. Correlation of Berry phase transport with the topological magnetic textures in Heusler compounds: From the bulk to the thin-film limit
  9. Development of a Faraday magnetometer based on piezoresistors for very high magnetic fields
  10. Discovery of new misfit compounds for twistronic applications
  11. Electrochemical catalysis and asymmetric synthesis on the surface of topological crystals
  12. Electronic Structure of Delafossite Oxides
  13. Exploring bulk Dirac- and Weyl- fermion magnetism by local probes: NMR and µSR
  14. Mesoscopic correlated electron and topological physics
  15. New metals and superconductors from ionic liquid gating
  16. Non-oxy delafossites: unconventional spin orbit entangled magnetism and electron transport
