Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is inviting applications for projects related to atmospheric multiphase chemistry and is seeking two PhD Students.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Photochemical processes in atmospheric aerosol particles are important for their overall burden and life-time as well as for the gas phase composition and the atmospheric oxidation capacity.
- The selected fellows will use state of the art techniques in trace gas sensing and a novel online aerosol mass spectrometry method but also techniques available at PSI’s large research facilities, such as X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning transmission X-Ray microspectroscopy.
- The feedbacks between transition metal induced peroxy radical chemistry in aerosol particles with nitrogen oxides, halogen compounds and the organic aerosol composition will be investigated.
- As a PhD candidate he/she will be enrolled at ETH Zürich.
Requirements:
- Applicant should have a Master or equivalent in physical, analytical or environmental chemistry.
- Applicant should bring interest in molecular scale processes of the atmosphere.
- Applicant should be motivated to work in an interdisciplinary team.
Applications:
Submit application online including addresses of referees for the position as a PhD Student (index no. 5601-00).
