Technical University of Denmark (DTU Chemical Engineering) seeks qualified candidates for two vacant PhD positions. The projects will be conducted at the CHEC Research Centre at DTU Chemical Engineering. CHEC is internationally recognized with respect to research in combustion, industrial high temperature processes, gasification, and catalysis.

About the project:
  • This project aims to understand the high-temperature phosphorous chemistry in biomass combustion, and to develop modelling tools to describe the chemistry.
  • The main responsibilities and tasks of the project include: Characterize the reactions between phosphorus species and other ash forming species by performing experiments with phosphorous-rich biomass and model compounds in high-temperature reactors.
  • Develop and validate modelling tools, such as thermodynamic equilibrium model, chemical kinetic model, or chemical engineering model, to describe the high-temperature reactions of phosphorous species and other ash forming species.
  • The main supervisor of the project is Associate Professor Hao Wu. The project is in collaboration with the group of Professor Anders Lyngfelt at Chalmers University of Technology. An external stay at Chalmers University of Technology is expected during the PhD project.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.

Applications:

  • Submit online application and applications must be submitted as one PDF file containing all materials to be given consideration. The file must include:
